Something parents know that you probably don't

There is this little plastic cover that fits over the bolt that is keeping your toilet in place. It comes off. Easily.

Easter Babbit!

Happy Easter everyone! Sorry I haven't checked in in a while... we were one sick family for a week, then the Bumble kept me very busy for a full week after to make up for all that time we spent laying around groaning and puking.

The bjaby, now tjoddler I suppose, has been a very busy bee. She's learning new words and using them liberally. She's practicing walking and daring herself to take a step here and there. She's discovering new and interesting foods beyond cereal and fruits. Yesterday she ate dog food and a grocery receipt.

The Bumble is a great animal lover and cheerfully says hi! to every bird, dog, squirrel (and recently rabbit) she sees, but she has always been shy when it comes to greeting humans. That all changed yesterday when she was riding around the block in her wagon, feeling like queen of the neighborhood, and she saw some people ride by on their bicycles. Maybe she felt a kinship since they were both on wheels or maybe the thrill of the wind in her wispy little curls gave her a wild hair. Whatever it was, she suddenly sang out her first unprompted, uncajoled, hi! to a stranger. Complete with full arm wave and beaming smile. Their enthusiastic response gave her confidence and she proceeded to smile, wave and say hi! to every other stranger on the sidewalk. In the grocery store, she even went so far as to say "hi dada!" to a college-aged Asian man, to both our confusion and embarrassment.

I hope you all have a nice holiday and find lots of hidden eggs!

Happy Birthday Bjaby!

Yesterday was the Bee's first birthday. It was a cold and rainy day, so we skipped the zoo and headed to the art museum instead. She oohed and aahed at all the different types of lights and said a cheerful "Hi!" to every little girl she saw. Her memere and pepere sent a little red wagon, which was the only thing more thrilling than seeing a balloon for the first time. After dinner, she ate a birthday pie, topped with real ice cream. The pie went mostly ignored in favor of hoovering up the ice cream. It was a pretty great day.

Mike had to hold her back as she lunged for the glowing pie.

Mini me

The Bumble and I were at the deli the other day when the woman behind the counter said, "Oh my gosh, your baby looks just like you!... except for the nose... and the lips... and the chin. What does her hair look like under that hat?"

Dogged

With temperatures finally above the 30s, we've been spending our days outside, soaking in the sunshine and playing with the dog we're borrowing.

The Bumble spends all day chasing after the "geegee", waving, saying "hi!" and tackling her for a hug. She shares her snacks and brings all her toys to the dog. She puts her giant stuffed dog toy in the dog's bed so that geegee won't have to sleep alone.

She just woke up, came crawling into the living room and headed straight for the dog, shouting "HI!" The day has begun.

Long time, no see

It has been a while, I know. That's because the Bumble destroyed my computer when I wasn't looking and I am still working on fixing it. In the meantime, she has been honing her destruction skills and I'm pretty sure she is working on becoming invisible. We may all be doomed.
